Patrona Medical Presentation (Coming Soon)
SCBIO 2015, 11/5/2015

Patrona Medical specializes in wireless sensor technology. Located in Greenville, South Carolina, Patrona Medical was established in June, 2015 to provide product innovations associated with the detection and monitoring of patients during their hospital stay.

The affordable care act has raised the rigor in which hospitals are evaluated regarding quality.  One of the most costly metrics is associated with hospital acquired infections.  These infections are monitored closely by hospitals and can potentially create a significant cost to the facility and complication to patients receiving care.  We at Patrona Medical are committed to the development of devices that can detect potential concerns and prevent patient’s complications before they occur.

Vision

Our vision is to provide medical devices that improve the quality of care for patients through increased detection, accelerated efficiency, and automated communication.

Technology

What is next? Our technology creates an automated interface between monitoring systems and patient care providers.  These advancements detect potential complications, reduce associated costs, support our care providers, and increase the overall quality of care.

CATHETER-ASSOCIATED URINARY TRACT INFECTION SENSOR

A urinary tract infection is an infection involving any part of the urinary system, including urethra, bladder, ureters, and kidney. UTIs are the most common type of healthcare-associated infection reported by the Centers for Disease Control.   Among UTIs acquired in the hospital, approximately 75% are associated with a urinary catheter, which is a tube inserted into the bladder through the urethra to drain urine.  Between 15-25% of hospitalized patients receive urinary catheters during their hospital stay.

Patrona Medical LLC has developed a patent pending wireless technology to detect the early onset presence of a Urinary Tract Infection (CAUTI) Catheter Assisted Urinary Tract Infection.  The technology provides in addition to the UTI detection the ability to monitor and record the patient’s urine output and transmit the data via a wireless platform to Patrona Medicals proprietary windows based software application

The Patrona Mission

Patrona Medical is dedicated to the detection and prevention of complications through device solutions that improve the quality, effectiveness and cost of care.
