About Patrona Medical

Patrona Medical, Inc. is a medical device company focused on the field of Urology.  Most specifically the prevention of Cather Associated Urinary Tract Infections, (CAUTI).  We have developed a patent pending technology that utilizes a color matrix process to determine a patient’s current colony count, allowing for intervention long before bacteria reach infectious levels.

Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTI) account for 40% of all Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI). CAUTI’s are responsible for 680,000 deaths globally and more than 13,00 American deaths annually.  The Affordable Care Act mandates a penalty for U.S. healthcare providers whom have high infections rates, and cost U.S. health care industry 490 – 520 million in lost reimbursements.  Globally these deadly and costly infections total more than 4.2 – 4.8 Billion in lost revenue and direct and indirect cost.

Vision

Our vision is to provide medical devices that improve the quality of care for patients through increased detection, accelerated efficiency, and automated communication.

Technology

What is next? Our technology creates an automated interface between monitoring systems and patient care providers.  These advancements detect potential complications, reduce associated costs, support our care providers, and increase the overall quality of care.

CATHETER-ASSOCIATED URINARY TRACT INFECTION SENSOR

A urinary tract infection is an infection involving any part of the urinary system, including urethra, bladder, ureters, and kidney. UTIs are the most common type of healthcare-associated infection reported by the Centers for Disease Control.   Among UTIs acquired in the hospital, approximately 75% are associated with a urinary catheter, which is a tube inserted into the bladder through the urethra to drain urine.  Between 15-25% of hospitalized patients receive urinary catheters during their hospital stay.

Patrona Medical LLC has developed a patent pending wireless technology to detect the early onset presence of a Urinary Tract Infection (CAUTI) Catheter Assisted Urinary Tract Infection.  The technology provides in addition to the UTI detection the ability to monitor and record the patient’s urine output and transmit the data via a wireless platform to Patrona Medicals proprietary windows based software application

The Patrona Mission

Patrona Medical is dedicated to the detection and prevention of complications through device solutions that improve the quality, effectiveness and cost of care.
